Joseph M. Getsinger is an accomplished and award-winning artist has created and published over 230 limited edition signed and numbered prints which have been distributed throughout the world. His medium of choice is acrylics, using a realistic approach to subject matter including landscapes, golf, waterfowl, seascape, police and firefighter art. He grew up in Camden, New Jersey, created cartoons in high school and continued through his tour of duty in the U.S. Navy in the late ’60s. He now has a studio in Woodbury Heights, NJ.
In 2008, Joseph came upon a large collection of antique cartoon printing plates of early works of nationally known cartoonists such as Will Eisner, Jack Kirby, Bob Kane, and Jerry Iger. This discovery, soon dubbed “The Getsinger Find”, included over 7500 long-lost cartoon strip printing plates from the 1930s and ’40s. These strips, largely unseen since their original publication, will soon be collected into a series of books, ensuring that the cartooning history they represent does not remain hidden.
